About the Institute: The NIPCCD or National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development offers an Advanced Diploma in Child Guidance and Counseling (since 2005). The institute is committed to advancing the development of children, adolescents, and women. It operates under the Societies Registration Act (1860). It runs under the Ministry of Women and Child Development. Let's get into the details of this program. 

About the Course: The course addresses the need to work in the area of Child and Adolescent Mental Health. It is designed to overcome the gap of trained experts' availability for undertaking counseling and guidance of children in various settings. It also empowers the learner with an updated understanding of Developmental, Ecological, and Rights. The affiliation of the course is with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi. It is recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). 

Course Duration: 1 year including 2 months of internship

Eligibility Criteria 

An individual must fulfil any ONE of the following criteria to be eligible for this course. 

  1. Master’s Degree from any recognized University (in social work / Psychology / Child Development / Community Resource Management / Development Communication Extension / Nursing / Special Education);  
  2. M.Ed.  
  3. Graduation from any recognized University (in social work / Psychology / Child Development / Community Resource Management / Development Communication Extension / Nursing / Special Education) with a minimum of 5 years of work experience with children; 
  4. B.Ed. + 4 years' work experience with children. 

The candidate must also have studied English (Elective / Core / Functional) (01 paper) at 10+2 level or higher. 

Admission Criteria: based on an Entrance Test (CET). 

Fees: The Annual Fee is Rs 68,000 approximately. 

About Entrance Exam 

  • The test paper will contain 100 objective-type questions in all for all CETs. Each question will be provided with four alternative answers marked as (1), (2), (3) and (4). Each multiple-choice question shall carry four marks. There will be negative marking for incorrect answers. One mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer. 
  • The written test will be of two-and-a-half hours and will carry 400 marks. 
  • The medium of the tests will be English only except for B. ED for which the test shall be in English and Hindi; 
  • The candidates then have to appear for the Written Test.  
  • Topics to prepare for the test are- General Awareness, Social Awareness, and General English, including Linguistic Expression..  
  • The Minimum Requirement to qualify for the entrance test is 50% marks.  
  • The Exam holds 75% weightage in the overall selection process.
    • (Only for Guwahati Campus) A Group Discussion is the next step with a weightage of 10 % followed by a Personal Interview carrying a weightage of 15%.
